Our Approach

What is A Multi-Perspectives Approach?

  • We don't build assessments. We create tools.  Those can include multiple:
  • Content Areas (e.g., personality, competencies, leadership behaviors, motives and values),
  • Raters (e.g., manager, peers, subordinates, customers), and
  • Item Types (e.g., strengths, development needs, importance ratings).

What makes our approach different?

  • Which of these would you find more useful: (1) asking an employee 5-10 very similar questions relating to competitiveness or (2) asking 5-10 of their coworkers how competitive they are with just one question?
  • The first approach is used by nearly every personality assessment available today.  However, we believe the second is not only more useful for coaching, but also more accurate.  
  • And we have research to back it up!
  • The bottom line is that we start with the purpose in mind first.  The key is to identify what you're trying to accomplish, such as putting the best information possible in a coach's hands, and then build an assessment using the right tools for that job.

Collecting data and generating reports is a simple process that can usually be completed within the same work week.  Once you have placed your order, we will send you UserIDs that are good for 12 months and that you can use for multiple years with the same employees. 


The biggest challenge can getting others to complete the surveys in a timely manner.  However, we can help.  Not only do we keep the assessments short (often 10 minutes or less for other-raters), we can provide sample communications for sending out surveys and reminders, which you can then customize to your own audience and needs.

A Multi-Perspectives Approach to Personality Assessment - journal article

Published in Consulting Psychology Journal, a flagship journal for the Society of Consulting Psychology, (Division 13 of the American Psychological Association), this article describes and highlights some of the advantages of our approach.  Contact us for a copy, or access the journal here. 

Presentations

We have presented research using a Multi-Perspectives approach at numerous academic conferences, including the Society of Consulting Psychology and the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  One of our latest papers recently won an award for best paper at the 2023 Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.  Contact us for a copy of our most recent presentations!

Research In Progress

We recently submitted an article for publication that focuses specifically on Reputational Self-Awareness, which is a key component of our Reflect 720 reports.  In the is paper, we show that RSA is predictive of performance ratings above and beyond all other common forms of personality assessment.   


We are also finalizing articles on multiple topics, including the value of the Strength and Developmental Needs checkboxes in our Reflect 720 assessments and of using a Multi-Perspective approach to assess cognitive ability. 

Current Pilots

We are currently piloting revisions to our Reflect 720 assessments, as well as our upcoming Lead 720 assessments, which focus on leadership behaviors and how leaders motivate and engage others.  We welcome any and all opportunities to pilot these and other new assessments with employees and can provide free reports and feedback for pilot participants.  Contact us to discuss opportunities to join any of our current pilots.
